Focus Timer Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Focus Timer is a time tracking app for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, developed by Cododev Technology Inc. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.

Focus Timer has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no servers of ours. Your history stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account, and we can't see it.

Your History and iCloud

Focus Timer stores the following on your device:

When iCloud is turned on for Focus Timer, your sessions and categories sync between your devices through your private iCloud database, using Apple's CloudKit. That data belongs to your Apple Account and only you can access it. Cododev Technology cannot read it. When iCloud is off, your history stays on the device.

iPhone and Apple Watch

When you use the Apple Watch app, your iPhone and your Watch send each other the running timer, your default lengths and your category names and colours. This goes directly between your paired devices through Apple's WatchConnectivity and never through us.

Siri and Shortcuts

To let you start a session by saying a category's name, Focus Timer gives your category names to the operating system so Siri can recognize them. Apple handles Siri requests under Apple's privacy policy.

Alarms, Notifications and Live Activities

The alarm, notification or Live Activity for the end of a session is scheduled on your device, and only after you allow it. We never send you notifications. iCloud may wake the app in the background when your history changes on another device, so it stays up to date.

Export, Import and Backups

Export files (CSV or SQL) are only created when you ask for them, and you choose where they go. Files you import are read on your device. Before Clear All History deletes anything, the app saves a CSV backup on your device: on iPhone and iPad in Files › On My iPhone (or On My iPad) › Focus Timer › Backups, and on the Mac in the app's own Backups folder.

On the Mac

The Mac app lives in your menu bar. It can only open files and folders you choose yourself, for Import and Export. If you turn on "Launch at Login", Focus Timer uses Apple's Service Management framework to start automatically when you log in. That setting is stored by macOS, not by Focus Timer, and you can turn it off in the app or in System Settings › General › Login Items.

Purchases

Any purchase is processed by Apple, and we never see your payment details. The app asks the App Store whether you've made a purchase and when you first downloaded the app. That date is also kept in your iCloud key-value storage, so all your devices agree on it.

No Analytics or Tracking

Focus Timer does not include any analytics, advertising, tracking or other third-party frameworks. The app does not collect usage data, device information or location data, and no data is shared with third parties.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete any session or category in the app. Settings › Clear All History deletes all your sessions on this device and, when iCloud is on, on your other devices too. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on that device.

Children's Privacy

Focus Timer is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
